RC Celta is a Spanish football club based in Vigo which competes in the Spanish LaLiga. Founded on the 23rd of August 1923 as a fusion between Real Fortuna and Vigo Sporting, the team plays its matches wearing sky blue shirt and socks with white trousers. They play their matches at the Abanca Balaídos stadium, which has a capacity of 29.000 spectators. One of their strengths is A Canteira, the club´s academy, this is reflected in the first team squad, being made up of a 30% of home-grown players, and also the Spanish national teams, where there are many players who have been brought up at A Canteira.

History

RC Celta was founded in 1923 as a result of the merge between Real Fortuna and Vigo Sporting, driven by Manuel de Castro, a journalist from Vigo. Their first match was held on the 23rd of September against the Portuguese team Boavista which ended in an 8-2 victory. In 1939 the club made its debut in first division. In the last decades, the club has played in three Copa Del Rey finals and has participated in European competitions, reaching semi-finals of the Europa League in the 2016-17 season
